Grobal 30 ～increasing international students

Yesterday I attended meeting about G-30 project (increasing international students in Japanese university). We discussed the matter of how we should welcome and treat international students to activate Japanese universities. For that purpose ,in Japanese university the curriculum in English is needed. And also the special study which interests those students is also needed. On campus life the attitude of Japanese students is important. Open minded and having many interest about foreign countries is demanded.

Summer festival season

August has come. The summer festival season has started. Today, famous festival NEBUTA-festival start in Aomori. I visited and took part in this festival twice when I was university student. I was impressed and appreciated what the festival MATSURI is. MATSURI is living itself.

Innovation training

Today's NIKKEI column, Prof. Lester C Thurow said that what Japanese need is not strong export power but "innovation". Recently,Japanese companies do not produce innovative product.This is the biggest problem in Japanese Economy.And he also said that for innovation, its not the governmental matter but educational matter to solve this serious theme. This opinion refreshed me. Proper education can stimulate student's innovative mind and this change will turn out to be a real innovation in the future.

Unemployment ratio is rising

The unemployment ratio of Japan is rising now. Especially, young people(15-24age)'s ratio is over 11%. It is worst in history. Young people needs job not only for the money but also for learn how to work and skill up oneself. So the young people's worst ratio is very serious. I think that some drastic policy is needed, for example, "work sharing obligation for training young people".

Not only the political cost but also political effect

According to today's paper, the government is going to announce the total cost of policy to save money. It is better than nothing but I think that the political effect is also needed to announce to us. If the effect of the policy is not proper, then we may not need the policy itself. Cost is only one side.

Tropical climate

In Japan Squall,sudden wind, is frequent in this summer. The climate pattern has changed to tropical type. So we Japanese should adjust ourselves to this new type of climate.It may test us how we can control our own health under any climates and weather.

Prora-ta is not a strategy but just a solution

According to today's paper, the government decided that the criterion of the demand for budgetary appropriations have to be decreased ten percent. This criterion is like 'Prora-ta'. The prora-ta means that every government offices must decrease ten percent (same rate). This policy cannot be reflected political needs or changes. It is only a solution for cutting national expenditure.
